Cobham Reclaimed Victorian Pine
This project in Cobham, Surrey involved the supply and installation of a reclaimed Victorian pine floor within a rear kitchen extension to an early Victorian house, where a number of original features had been retained.
The intention was to bring a sense of continuity between the new addition and the existing fabric of the building. The boards were laid and clamped tightly together but left unfilled, allowing original fixing holes and marks from their previous life to remain visible. A medium sanding process was carried out, followed by a satin oil finish to provide a balance between durability for kitchenuse and a more traditional appearance.
The retained staining and surface variation sit comfortably within the space, helping the extension feel less defined as a new insertion and more in keeping with the character and harmony of the original house.
