Crouch End Reclaimed Oak Parquet

This project, carried out within a renovated Victorian house in Crouch End, North London, involved the installation of a reclaimed oak parquet floor.

The parquet was laid in a traditional herringbone format, with reclaimed oak strip used to form borders between levels, and reclaimed oak boards incorporated into the steps for continuity. The floor was installed without the use of filler, allowing for a more authentic wood block character. It was then deep sanded and treated with a white pigmented primer to create a softly bleached appearance, followed by an ultra matt protective topcoat for a subdued, durable finish.

The overall effect brings a lighter, more contemporary feel to the interior, while retaining the underlying structure and rhythm of a traditional parquet layout, helping to balance the period fabric of the house with a more pared-back, modern finish.
