Dulwich Reclaimed Burmese Teak

This project, set within a Victorian property in Dulwich, Southeast London, involved the supply and installation of reclaimed Burmese teak parquet, originally salvaged from Wadsworth Hospital.

The floor was laid in a herringbone format, framed by a two-block brickwork border to define the space. It was then deep sanded, with all gaps carefully filled to achieve a refined and seamless surface. The finish began with a spirit-based primer to draw out the natural variation and depth of tone found in the old growth Burmese teak, followed by a satin water-based finish to provide a durable, understated sheen.

The richness of the teak, combined with the ordered herringbone pattern, introduces a strong visual foundation to the room, balancing the decorative detail of the period features while adding warmth, depth, and a sense of permanence to the overall interior.
