Notting Hill Antique Oak Boards
This project in Notting Hill involved the supply and installation of an exceptional antique oak boarded floor.
The boards were laid in a mixed width format, including a number of particularly wide planks, giving the floor a natural variation in scale. A sympathetic sanding approach was taken to retain the existing wear and patina of the surface, preserving the depth and character built over time. The floor was then finished with a brown oil, bringing a gentle uniformity to the colour while maintaining an organic, low-sheen appearance.
The result forms a strong and grounded base to the interior, with the richness of tone and authenticity of the material setting the direction for the surrounding design, allowing other elements within the space to sit more comfortably against it.
