Portobello Reclaimed Victorian Pine Floor Boarding
This project on Portobello Road, West London, involved an attic conversion where reclaimed Victorian pine floorboards were supplied and fitted throughout.
The boards were used not only underfoot but also carried across the walls and ceiling, fully enclosing the space in a consistent, period-appropriate material and integrating the new addition with the existing character of the property. The surface was medium sanded tobring out the grain while retaining elements of age and previous wear. A grey oil-based stain was applied to soften the natural red tones of the pine, followed by a clear matt oil finish to maintain a natural, understated appearance.
The continuous use of timber across all planes gives the space a strong sense of cohesion, with the softened colour palette and retained texture creating a calm, unified interior that feels both considered and in keeping with the building.
