Salisbury Reclaimed Engineered Oak Boarding

This project in Salisbury, Wiltshire, involved the supply and installation of a reclaimed engineered oak floor within a newly built Georgian-style house, where underfloor heating was specified throughout.

The boards were produced from reclaimed oak, originally salvaged from structural timbers and bonded to a stable plywood base, allowing the material to perform reliably within a modern heating system. Laid in a mixed width format, the floor displays a natural range of colour and tonal variation, creating a variegated and informal appearance.

The aged character of the oak sits in quiet contrast to the precision of the build and the efficiency of the heating system, combining the visual depth of historic material with contemporary performance. Within the interior, the use of reclaimed timber softens the formality of the architecture, introducing texture and a sense of familiarity that helps the space feel more established and less newly constructed.
