Walton Reclaimed Oak Parquet

This project, set within an early Victorian property in Walton upon Thames, involved the supply and installation of a high-grade reclaimed English oak parquet floor, originally salvaged from County Hall on the South Bank.

The blocks were laid in a traditional herringbone format, then deep sanded with all gaps filled to create a more refined and continuous surface. This process brought out a soft, mellow tone characteristic of aged and naturally oxidised English oak.

The floor provides a strong and appropriate base to the renovated interior, its scale and pattern sitting comfortably within the proportions of the house. The use of reclaimed oak brings a depth and subtle variation that is difficult to replicate with new material, allowing the floor to support the overall design with a sense of permanence and quiet authenticity.

Our Flooring

We stock an extensive range of reclaimed flooring — from Victorian and Georgian pine boards and antique oak to parquet in classic herringbone and chevron patterns, strip flooring, decorative wood panels, and engineered options suitable for underfloor heating.

Whether you’re restoring a period property or bringing reclaimed character to a contemporary interior, there’s something in the range for every setting.
