Westbourne Park Reclaimed Re-sawn Oak Boards

This project in Westbourne Park involved a high-spec basement conversion within an Edwardian terraced house, where we supplied and fitted reclaimed re-sawn European oak boards.

The floor was laid in a mixed width format, incorporating a number of particularly wide planks, with the material left ungraded to express the full range of natural variation and rustic character. A clear sealer was applied to soften some of the darker staining within the boards, followed by an ultra matt topcoat to maintain a muted, natural palette. The same material was also used to form floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, creating a consistent and integrated finish across the space.

The use of aged timber within a newly formed basement introduces a sense of depth and texture that offsets the clean lines of the conversion, allowing the space to feel more grounded and connected to the character of the house above rather than distinctly separate from it.

Our Flooring

We stock an extensive range of reclaimed flooring — from Victorian and Georgian pine boards and antique oak to parquet in classic herringbone and chevron patterns, strip flooring, decorative wood panels, and engineered options suitable for underfloor heating.

Whether you’re restoring a period property or bringing reclaimed character to a contemporary interior, there’s something in the range for every setting.
